【摘要】:Bulkrelativedensity(specificgravity)isthecharacteristicgenerallyusedforcalculationofthevolumeoccupiedbytheaggregateinvariousmixturescontainingaggregateincludingPortlandcementconcrete,bituminousconcrete,andothermixturesthatareproportionedoranalyzedonanabsolutevolumebasis.Bulkrelativedensity(specificgravity)isusedinthecomputationofvoidsinaggregateinC1252andC29/C29M.Bulkrelativedensity(specificgravity)determinedonthesaturatedsurfacedry(SSD)basisisusediftheaggregateiswet,thatis,ifitsabsorptionhasbeensatisfied.Conversely,thebulkrelativedensity(specificgravity)determinedontheoven-drybasisisusedforcomputationswhentheaggregateisdryorassumedtobedry.Apparentrelativedensity(specificgravity)pertainstotherelativedensityofthesolidmaterialmakinguptheconstituentparticlesnotincludingtheporespacewithinthenbsp;nbsp;nbsp;particlesthatisaccessibletowater.Thisvalueisnotwidelyusedinconstructionnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;aggregatetechnology.Waterabsorptionvaluesareusedtocalculatethechangeinthemassofannbsp;nbsp;nbsp;aggregateduetowaterabsorbedintheporespaceswithintheconstituentnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;particles,comparedtothedrycondition,whenitisdeemedthattheaggregatenbsp;nbsp;nbsp;hasbeenincontactwithwaterlongenoughtosatisfymostoftheabsorptionnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;potential.Thelaboratorystandardforabsorptionisthatobtainedafternbsp;nbsp;nbsp;submergingdryaggregateforapproximately24hoursinwater.Aggregatesnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;minedfrombelowthewatertablemayhaveahigherabsorptionwhenused,ifnotallowedtodry.Conversely,someaggregateswhenusedmaycontainannbsp;nbsp;nbsp;amountofabsorbedmoisturelessthanthe24hourssoakedcondition:Foranaggregatethathasbeenincontactwithwaterandthathadfreemoistureonthenbsp;nbsp;nbsp;particlesurface,thepercentageoffreemoisturecanbedeterminedbydeductingnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;theabsorptionfromthetotalmoisturecontentdeterminedaccordingtoC566bydrying.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftherelativedensity(specificgravity)andabsorptionoffineaggregates.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
