【摘要】:TestMethodD2047establishesacompliancecriterionrelatingstaticcoefficientoffrictionmeasurementsofflooringsurfaceswithhumanlocomotionsafety.Thecompliancecriterionisbasedonextensiveexperientialdatafromresidential,commercial,industrialandinstitutionalwalkwaysurfacessince1942.Polishesandotherfloormaintenancecoatingshavingastaticcoefficientoffrictionofnotlessthan0.5,asmeasuredbythistestmethod,havebeenrecognizedasprovidingnonhazardouswalkways.Note18212;Thevalueof0.5meetstherequirementsforcompliancewithRule5onx201C;Theuseoftermsslipretardant,slipresistant,ortermsofsimilarimport,x201D;oftheProposedTradePracticeRulesfortheFloorWaxandFloorPolishIndustryasissuedbytheFederalTradeCommissiononMarch17,1953.The0.5staticcoefficientoffrictioncompliancecriterionofthistestmethodisonlyappropriateforpolish-coatedsurfacestestedinaccordancewiththismachineandtestmethod.Theuseofthiscompliancecriterionwithothertestmethods,othertestinstruments,andothersurfacesisimproper,becausetheyarenotapartofthebodyofexperientialdatauponwhichtheconformancecriterionisbased.Note28212;Theconformancecriteriaofthistestmethodmaybevalidforothersurfacesandsurfacecoatingstestedbythistestmethod,butthishasnotbeensubstantiatedbycorrelationwithexperientialdata.1.1ThislaboratorytestmethodcoverstheuseoftheJamesMachineforthemeasurementofthestaticcoefficientoffrictionofpolish-coatedflooringsurfaceswithrespecttohumanlocomotionsafety.Further,thistestmethodalsoestablishesacompliancecriteriontomeettherequirementforanonhazardouspolishedwalkwaysurface.Thetestmethodisnotintendedforuseon"wet"surfacesoronsurfaceswhereinthetexture,projections,profileorclearancebetweenthesculpturedpatternofthesurfacedoesnotpermitadequatecontactbetweenthemachinefootandthetestsurface.1.2Thistestmethodistheonlymethodappropriatefortestingpolishesforspecificationcompliancewiththefloorpolishstaticcoefficientoffrictioncriterion.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
